MARIN INDEPENDENT JOURNAL Monday Readers' Forum We need Marin GeneralDr. Brian L. Strunk, co-chief of cardiology at Marin General Hospital, wrote a letter (Readers' Forum, April 10) regarding the advanced care for heart attack victims at MGH. It is wonderful to know MGH is so successful in providing the quick procedure to aid heart attack victims. MGH has provided professional care and medically advanced care to its patients for a long time. It is unfortunate that some individuals in our community want to achieve their goals for MGH by destroying public confidence of a wonderful facility. MGH has a very professional staff, with medically advanced doctors who care about their patients, their professio, and the hospital in which they practice. If the dissidents keep up the drum beat, they will get a hospital without the medically professional staff that we value. It is also interesting to note that many of the dissidents seem to have an ax to grind as a result of a perceived insult sometime in the past. I would ask these folks to adjust their efforts to the needs of the entire population of Marin and not their own personal experience. We need everyone to come together and work for the retention of Marin General Hospital as the "go to" place for our health care. As a Central Marin resident, I feel that a centrally located hospital is essential. MGH has served my friends with concern, care and professional attention. Some day I will need the services of MGH. I want a hospital where my family and friends can visit and provide me with support without having to fight the traffic to get to my bedside. I echo Dr. Strunk in saying "I hope the continued excellence of our local cardiac program does not go unnoticed by the citizens of Marin." Gladys Gilliland, San Rafael
